In a surprising crossover event that challenges conventional predictions, Ubisoft has revealed an in-game crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event operates from November 25 through December 22, providing no-cost bonus story content for Shadows players.

Strange Mission Disclosed

According to the formal release, "A mysterious confrontation draws characters Naoe and Yasuke into a original adventure, where rumors of prohibited rituals and monstrous changes echo through the darkness." The storyline introduces a "oddly attired woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with venturing into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to save her companion from a clandestine cult.

The questline centers on "strange experiments and a fearsome foe" and is available to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.

Recognizable Locations and Transformations

The trailer highlights the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan redesigned as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer finishes with a powerful moment showing a character, likely the hostage, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.

Special Items and Additional Features

Players who successfully complete the adventure will obtain an special katana alongside multiple objects secreted throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:

• Titan-inspired costume for Yasuke
• Mikasa outfit for Naoe
• Special weapons
• Survey Corps steed

Third Free Story Addition

This patch also introduces the game's newest complimentary story addition, titled "The Enigma." This playful adventure pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature techniques: Naoe introduces a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Enigma" also features a original environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This signifies hardly the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has collaborated with popular anime series. The series earlier showcased a 2020 cross-promotional story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Additionally, Valhalla informally included a quest that unmistakably referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
