'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith renews clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he reminisces about the thrilling final moments of his team's stunning fightback win against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. The encounter culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a fan's glasses after the pitch-side pile-on.

As the match entered added time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative strike from distance, and his teammate immediately slammed home the rebound before racing off toward the East Stand to revel in the moment, with fans swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

This sealed an unbelievable comeback given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 midway through the latter period. In the euphoria, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator shouting out and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The result booked a next round fixture at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had a prime vantage point when the underdogs took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. It feels criminal that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've awarded it to him for having a go from that range," stated Galbraith, who began the game centrally before moving to right wing-back after the team changed formation. That meant facing off against the England international, with whom he traded tops, and the attacker was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way the underdogs played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are outstanding but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just perform consistently," Galbraith says. "It feels like they never miss a pass and they know how to control and neutralize a game. You can feel you're doing well and then suddenly they will just deliver a through ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be alert every second of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and attention just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

The club pushed to sign Galbraith in January and secured his signature to bring him in in the summer in a significant move. He became a favorite as a popular figure across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has rapidly done the same in south Wales. At Orient he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at a League One side from Old Trafford. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier Salford City, before he moved on from Manchester United.

Learning Curve

"I was perhaps a bit naive going into senior level. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems the ball is moved without much intensity. There are limited tackles or duels. Once you start playing professional matches you have to learn quickly."

Country Call-ups

He has demonstrated that maturation for both domestically and internationally, excelling for the Green and White Army, who could still reach the global tournament next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the past five games, including home and away fixtures against Germany. His former international manager, Galbraith's ex- international manager, gave him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his knack for a game-changing assist.

Early Days

This represents quite the ride for the kid from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside Northern Ireland's main city, who grew up watching his dad, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Manchester United Experience

Galbraith's only game for Manchester United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they competed on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was shut owing to conditions of bitter cold. "It was a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he recalls, smiling. "The week before, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to join the main group and earn some playing time at the end was amazing."

Moving On

How difficult was it to depart Manchester United, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "It was quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I wouldn't break through at the top level. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it got to the point where I believed I needed to go my own route, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

Life in Swansea

It is the early part of the afternoon at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's so-called team minibus, a team vehicle driven by academy staff, the drivers, which ferries players to and from training and matches.

"I travel with Gonçalo Franco, the Brazilian, Malick Yalcouyé – Melker Widell used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to interact with the teammates but I'm hoping to be the following person to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. His teammate likes to pull a few pranks; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

When he represented Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside followers on London's Central line after starting his journey at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
