Large-scale Russian Assaults Cut Power In Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in Ukraine
The country's power facilities have come under increased attacks in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian aerial assaults have resulted in blackouts in multiple districts of the capital city, Kyiv.

Nine people were wounded while inhabitants in eastern neighborhoods were experienced blackouts and faced problems to water supplies, per reports from local authorities.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a different aerial attack in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, according to regional authorities.

Moscow has increased strikes on electrical systems over the past few days, while the country's government has called for "substantial measures" from allies to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What's needed is not window dressing but strong steps - from the America, the EU and the Group of Seven - in delivering air defence systems and applying penalties," mentioned in a online statement.

Officials stated that 450 drones and more than 30 rockets attacked energy facilities, characterizing such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as winter approaches.

Energy officials said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were laboring to repair systems.

A barrage of missiles damaged power facilities and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people hurt in the assaults on the capital have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by city authorities.

Regional authorities said the metropolitan region came under intense attacks throughout the evening. A minor was killed and three other people were wounded.

The attacks succeed evenings of aerial attacks in the area, sections of which remain under the control of invading troops.

All of Ukraine is under warning for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to identify.

National leaders told reporters that Moscow was purposely seeking to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with assaults already impacting gas facilities.

Authorities confirmed utility staff and authorities were anticipating additional strikes.
