Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the past five grands prix.
Lando Norris just pipped fellow driver and championship contender the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the championship lead from Piastri by one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, outpaced the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before the sprint shootout due at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, sitting 36 points behind Norris, ended up in 17th position as his team followed a unique setup.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to go off, albeit lightly, when he rotated at Turn Four soon after starting.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before spinning across the escape zone, and was fortunate to get away with just a slight brush of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also lost it, at the final moments of the practice, rotating twice through the high-speed Mergulho turn leading to the final corner on to the pit straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber in third, over half a second behind the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was fourth quickest, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and Alpine's Gasly and the Williams of Carlos Sainz.
