Trump Calls Relatives of Shot National Guard Soldiers to White House
Former President Donald Trump revealed on the weekend that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to come to the executive mansion.
He mentioned that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.
Information on the Heartbreaking Event
US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a shooting on Wednesday in Washington DC.
Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, is still in the hospital in grave state.
Gatherings across West Virginia have been held in their remembrance.
Presidential Call
The commander-in-chief explained he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both soldiers of the state National Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump told reporters. “And likewise with Andrew, recover or not.”
Community Reaction
Community members came together over the past few days at Webster County high school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.
Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s government program to assist law enforcement in the capital.
Paying Tribute to Sarah Beckstrom
“She was the individual that teachers desired. She carried herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that inspired those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s previous school, stated to the Associated Press. “She was kind, compassionate and always eager to assist people.”
Funeral arrangements for Sarah are still being arranged.
Legal Actions and Government Changes
Officials have accused a 29-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of first-degree murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The event caused the government to suspend asylum processing and temporarily stop issuing visas to holders of Afghan passports.
Condition of Andrew Wolfe
Wolfe, a native of the city, began his service in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman High, according to the Associated Press.
He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia leader Morrisey mentioned on a news program.
Attorney general Bondi stated on the program that she planned to speak to his relatives.
Legacy of the Fallen Soldier
Sarah, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a law enforcement officer with distinction, according to the state guard.
“She had a lot of goodness and she definitely had fortitude,” Morrisey addressed the audience at the service. “Though her time was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
